FITNESS & TRAINING
FITNESS & TRAINING WITH MARK
So, we all know there are a wealth of amazing (and some less amazing) people out there who offer training sessions, advice and tips, diet plans, psycho-analysis and everything in between. Many, many of these have a wealth of experience and skill, developed over years of training and on-the-job practice. Am I trying to replace them? No.
What I’m doing is offering some support, advice and guidance based on my experiences and training with recovery and growth, nutrition, massage therapy and my own journey with health and fitness.
Do I know what I’m talking about?
My approach is to blend practical and manageable steps toward overall health and fitness (of both body and mind) by considering elements of physical activity, gut and microbiome health, rest / recovery and mental health. I hold a degree in Biology from the University of Bath where I focused on immunology and microbial activity while supporting and working alongside our Sports and Exercise faculty.
Along the way I’ve seen myself go from a stick-insect teenager to a plump and out of condition young adult and on to a body and health that I can be proud of. I’m aware of the myriad of hurdles and competing demands on time, resources and mental capacity - I’ve lived through many of them! I’m also a gay man, who has struggled with the gay community obsession with looks and physique, while balancing a career and personal life. Feeling like you should be at the gym 24 days a week and spinning every other plate perfectly takes its toll and can easily lead to burnout and a negative mental spiral. I want to help guys change that.
I am not selling the dream of the perfect body, nor the perfect instagram lifestyle. I’m offering practical, manageable support that takes account of all the various impacts on health and fitness that we so often overlook - not just telling you to eat 500kcal a day and do 50 sit-ups.
